Position Overview:
The Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit (IU5) is seeking applicants for a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher for the 2024 - 2025 school year. An educator holding a valid Pennsylvania Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Certificate is qualified to assess, develop individualized education programs, and teach students with hearing impairments. This is a position working as an itinerant in the areas that the IU services.Benefits of the Position

  • 187 work days per year
  • 10 paid sick days, 3 Personal Days, 2 Emergency Days
  • Full Medical-PPO, Dental, Prescription, and Vision Coverage for Employee and Dependents on hire date. ($75.00/ month premium+ deductible)
  • Required minimum 8.5% contribution to Pennsylvania School Employees Retirement System (PSERS).
Required Qualifications:
- Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Certificate

- Assess and teach deaf and hearing impaired students
- Develop individualized education programs
- Counsel special education students who are deaf or hard of hearing regarding the impact their hearing loss may have on their education
