- Support new product development aligning with LiuGong Strategy and coordinate with product managers in Europe to create accurate product definitions.
- Clearly define and identify real customer demands based on customer and application research to develop detailed reports of hydraulic system features and develop preliminary technical solutions to present to HQ.
- Conduct research on the state-of-the-art hydraulic technical solutions and benchmark competitive products to allow creation (and presentation of) detailed technical reports.
- Guide the hydraulic system design of products that will be sold in Europe and support solution reviews based on the market demands and technical research of components and competitor products.
- Collate information on local regulations and standards related to hydraulic systems to ensure machine and system compliance.
- Guide HQ R&D teams to correct interpretation of product-related regulations in Europe before New Product Development phase to ensure products developed satisfy European legislative requirements.
- Provide guidance to HQ R&D teams to conduct functional reviews of hydraulic system(s) during New Product Development phase to ensure technical functions satisfy European requirements.
- Support hydraulic design and test reviews; check customer satisfaction / expectations of hydraulic system functions at the prototype build phases and provide support, feedback and any recommendations on initial field population.
- Follow up and respond to customer requirements and feedback in a timely manner after New Product Introduction, coordinate with HQ team to derive solutions.
- Support of Existing Products
- Follow up on and monitor new products launched in the European market, investigate and analyse any issues and output findings and recommendations in reports to HQ.
- Communicate with overseas product managers and HQ R&D and Service teams regularly concerning any product issues from the market, to enable the development of solutions and action plans.
- Study new hydraulic technology trends within the European equipment market, understand development requirements and output detailed analysis reports.
- Conduct technical research on the state-of-the-art hydraulic components, solutions and competitive products, and output detailed analysis reports.
- Investigate, devise and present solution proposals to HQ teams regarding any legislative changes.
- Travel to LiuGong HQ at least twice a year and no less than 2 weeks per trip.
- Travel within Europe and UK region to better understand customer needs and support local issues.
- BEng or BSc in Mechanical Engineering or other related / equivalent engineering qualification — Masters degree preferred;
- More than 5 years hydraulic system design/ development experience or equivalent in hydraulic excavator, wheel loader, or telescopic handler products;
- In-depth knowledge in the design or development of hydraulic systems of the above products or design of equivalent hydraulic systems;
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems of construction machinery, and the technological and developmental trend of the key components and systems; should be aware of the future hydraulic technology in the industry, must be able to use hydraulic technology experience to guide the problem solving of product issues;
- Proficient in the interpretation and application of hydraulic technology related standards in Europe;
- Good "hands-on" ability, and be able to operate common hydraulic testing instrumentation / equipment for machine performance testing;
- Must be capable of operating hydraulic excavator, wheel loader or telescopic handler machines and evaluating the machine's behaviour.
