We have an opportunity for a Lead Engineer - Wind Tunnel Technology to join the Andretti Cadillac Team at the new Silverstone Facility. In this role you will lead a skilled group of engineers and technicians, focused on the management, support and technology developments of all systems related to experimental wind tunnel testing.   • Lead and manage a team responsible for all aspects of mechanical, electro mechanical, control systems and instrumentation systems for the wind tunnel model and associated facility systems: including installation, reliability, maintenance, support.
  • Ensure the wind tunnel is delivering class leading quality and density in support of the race car aerodynamic development.
  • Manage the group’s workload and meet targets; management of high value projects involving multiple personnel and skillsets.
  • Setup and calibrate model systems, instrumentation, and rig installations.
  • Investigate and research new and novel technologies, techniques and methodologies for model and wind tunnel systems: instrumentation, sensors, aero measurements, etc.
  • Proactively lead technical fault logging and resolution in a methodical approach.
  • Work closely with Aero engineers and designs, and wind tunnel facility staff.
  • Manage Health and Safety requirements.
Requirements
  • A minimum 8 years’ relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within the motorsport industry.
  • Extensive experience of wind tunnel testing facilities and model systems.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of flow measurements systems (such as PIV, multi-hole probes, etc).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical installations and assemblies.
  • Experience in operating test installations, machinery and safety critical equipment.
  • Experience in project planning and management.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Able to perform duties in a timely manner with minimal errors.
  • Ability to line manage / lead teams effectively.
  • Communicate effectively with key stakeholders/directors.
  • Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture.
