To support our mission, we are currently seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to join our Blackwater team on site.What does this role involve?To provide HSE specialist advice and support to individual Project team(s) in implementing and continually improving the HSE Management System and HSE performance. Monitor compliance with legislative requirements. Assist to identify, develop and apply HSE training programs.This role is a site-based role on a 14:14 roster with nightshift requirements.Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide HSE specialist advice and assistance to all regions where required and achievable
  • Provide assistance and advice to the Project manager to develop, review and implement the Project HSE Management Plan, risk registers, operational HSE procedures and programs
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable legal and other HSE requirements governing operational scope
  • Ensure copies of relevant system documentation are available, current, applicable and being used
  • Research, develop and implement of HSE programs to address project specific issues
  • Assist HSEQ Manger to evaluate subcontractors' suitability and prepare client submissions
  • Develop, coordinate and present generic and project specific HSE inductions and training for Sedgman and subcontractor personnel
  • Provide assistance to responsible manager to identify project specific regulatory training needs
  • Provide assistance to responsible manager to facilitate Site Safety Committees
  • Ensure timely Event reporting and Investigation of incidents
  • Review close out of corrective actions for effectiveness
  • Lead and assist with objective investigation of incidents
  • Provide RRTWC services to project(s) and facilitate implementation of rehabilitation procedures
  • Lead and assist with audits of compliance to Sedgman's HSEQ management system requirements
  • Monitor regulatory compliance on project, carry out site inspections and Job Safety Observations
  • Orders suspension of activities posing a threat to the environment, workers or others.
  • Monitor contractors' compliance to Project HSE management Plan and Sedgman requirements
  • Maintain, administer and provide technical support of electronic HSEQ data management systems
  • Develop and assist with collation of accurate HSE information for monthly reporting within time frames.
About you:To be successful in this role, you will be self-motivated, well organised with the ability to manage multiple work fronts in a busy environment. You will be able to think out-of-the-box and be the driver to find innovative solutions to trivial problems. You will be flexible to travel to site as required.
  • Degree qualified or Project/Trade based certificate and significant relevant experience
  • Current Driver's license
  • Workplace rehabilitation and return to work coordinator
  • Exposure to national and international Health and safety legislation
  • Development and implementation of HSE management systems aligned to international standards
  • Computer literate intermediate level - ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and web based programs
  • Interpersonal skills and good communication - ability to communicate with different levels of employees in the Organisation
  • A minimum of 3 years in a similar role in the resources sector engineering and services industry
  • Internal Auditing to AS/NZS 4801, ISO 14001.
