Service manager£275 - £320 per dayDuties:1.Lead the strategic direction of the service to ensure optimum use of resources and quality of
service and efficiency is maximised
2. Key member of the Care management team.
3. Lead on the identification and subsequent delivery of improvements for the service to ensure it is
developed and delivered in accordance with current national and local thinking and best practice.
4. Liaise with key stakeholders (through the CES Steering group) in other agencies to develop and
establish service priorities and allocate available resources to achieve agreed objectives
5. Work to ensure there is an integrated approach across partners including Adult Social Care, Health
(acute and community services) and Children's Services.
6. Lead business and service planning processes and performance evaluation to support the
development of a fully responsive and flexible range of services.
7. Develop and manage commissioning and procurement of contracts for the supply of internal and
external services working closely with commissioning and procurement colleagues in all relevant
organisations in order to maintain and build on strong working relationships with providers.
8. Lead on developing and purchasing of new technologies to assist vulnerable people and improve
their health and wellbeing and independence.
9. Manage emergency situations affecting highly vulnerable people to mitigate the risk of harm
ensuring public accountability and public relations are dealt with effectively.
10. Maintain an up to date knowledge of local, regional and national developments in local government
and NHS initiatives to provide specialist expert advice to support identification, design and delivery
of improvement opportunities relating to equipment provision.Requirements / Qualifications : Professional and management qualifications or equivalent.
 Considerable management experience and associated skills.
 Proven track record as a manager and expert in integrating more than one relevant professional
discipline.
 Full understanding of the service area and the wider business and the context within which it operates.
 Extensive people management skills.
 Organisational/planning skills.
 Commercial/marketing skills may be relevant in some service areas.
 Expert breadth and depth of knowledge regarding the service and relevant legislation.
 Knowledge of Health and Safety and similar procedures and policies and their application to the work
area.
 Understanding of budget processes and organisational priorities.
 High level of influencing, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
 Knowledge of inward- and outward-facing Council issues.
 Experience of implementing change.
 Politically astute in a rapidly-changing environment.
