We are looking for a motivated and visionary Head of Science to lead our Science Department and further enrich our students' learning experiences.The RoleAs the Head of Science, you will be responsible for overseeing the Science Department, developing curriculum strategies, and leading a team of talented educators. This position is key to driving high standards of teaching and learning in science, and ensuring that our students are prepared for their future academic and career paths.Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of the science curriculum across all key stages.
  • Manage and mentor the science teaching staff, fostering a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement.
  • Assess the effectiveness of teaching and learning in science and implement strategies for enhancement.
  • Oversee the preparation and execution of engaging and challenging lessons that cater to a diverse range of learning needs.
  • Encourage innovative teaching techniques and the use of technology to enhance the learning experience.
  • Collaborate with other department heads and the senior leadership team to promote a cohesive educational strategy.
  • Manage budgets and resources allocated to the Science Department effectively.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, the wider school community, and external organisations to promote the department's activities and achievements.
About You
  • You are a UK-qualified teacher with QTS.
  • You have extensive experience teaching science and a proven track record of leadership in an educational setting.
  • You demonstrate strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and inspire your team.
  • You are knowledgeable about the latest educational practices and curricular developments in science.
  • Your communication skills are exemplary, enabling effective collaboration and relationship-building.
  • You are deeply committed to fostering a love of science and academic excellence among students.
