The Scan Station are now looking to recruit a Surveyor to work full time based in the North West (Chester area) working throughout the UK and occasionally further afield.The Scan Station Ltd (part of the RSK Group) supports the Construction, Rail, Renewable, Environmental, Oil & Gas and Film industries with specialist survey and inspection services. We work on fast paced projects throughout the UK and Middle East and seek to find a Surveyor to support our growing business. As a company, we want you to share in our achievements and we want to be a conduit for your success.Responsibilities & Requirements:The role involves planning, conducting, and managing various types of projects. Our most common project involve a combination of traditional survey, laser scanning/LiDAR and photogrammetry and so experience using these technologies will be important.The role will require proficiency in various surveying competencies, including:
  • Terrestrial Laser Scanning:
  • Use laser scanners to capture object or structure dimensions.
  • Select suitable equipment and settings.
  • Set up scanners for adequate scan coverage and overlap.
  • Process scans with software like Leica Cyclone or Autodesk Recap to create 3D models or point clouds.
  • Integration of laser scanning technologies with other survey types including photogrammetry and aerial LiDAR.
  • Terrestrial Photogrammetry:
  • Collect high quality photogrammetry datasets with the equipment available.
  • Choose appropriate equipment and settings.
  • Process datasets with software like Reality Capture to generate 3D models, point clouds and other deliverables.
  • Drone Operations:
  • Safely and accurately operate drones indoors and outdoors.
  • Understand different drone types, regulations, and permissions.
  • Plan and execute drone flights based on project objectives, site conditions, and regulations.
  • Control drones manually or autonomously, monitoring status and capturing quality images and data.
  • Ideally holding a GVC or A2CoC but training can be provided.
  • Traditional Survey work including:
  • Total Station control and data collection
  • GNNS control and data collection
  • Generating CAD deliverables
  • Pointcloud processing
Experience and Qualifications:
  • 1-3 years of experience in the provision of survey deliverables and has a desire to adopt new technologies and innovate
  • Proficiency using surveying equipment and software
  • Experienced in Data Analysis
  • Experience of liaising with clients
  • Project management experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated and ambitious.
  • Willing to learn new design procedures and software through company training.
  • A good self-manager of time and work.
  • Strong team player with an energetic outlook that motivates others.
  • Experienced in use of Microsoft products including Excel, Word and Power Point.
