Senior Manager: Warehouse and Operations - Logistics - R500K - R400K

- Provide leadership to all facets of fulfilment centre operations and ensure products are correctly received, put-away, stored, correctly picked, packaged, labelled, and shipped out to customers in a timely & cost-effective manner.
- Evaluate and develop operational policies and procedures to ensure the most efficient and effective processing of delivery orders; control of damages, picking errors and mispack; short packs; and excellence in customer service levels.
- Develop and roll-out fulfilment centres in new markets and/or regions, cross-docks, and last mile logistics stations to ensure excellent customer service levels are maintained.
- Ensure cross-docks, micro distribution centres and last mile logistics stations operate in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Develop, measure, track and achieve performance goals, objectives and KPIs such as OTIF, OOS and Line Fill (%), SLA Adherence, etc.
- Develop productivity & accuracy standards and follow-up to ensure acceptable quality control standards are met.
- Ensure that those safe work practices are followed to support a safe work environment.
- Ensure communication and teamwork among staff members to aid in the Maximize the capabilities of Warehouse Management System.
- Accomplishment of the business objectives.
- Analyze projected sales/deliveries and plan for adequate staffing and equipment.
- Ensure that facility technical needs are adequately monitored, and equipment is maintained.
- Drive continuous improvement by analyzing and making improvement recommendations to established processes and procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement in accuracy and customer service and quality levels.
- Develop and maintain inventory/security controls to prevent shrinkage and shortages.
- Enforce compliance with all governmental laws and statutory requirements.
- Responsible formulating and controlling expense budget.
- Report expenses in an accurate and timely manner.
- Recommend and cost justify any CAPEX.
- Ensure the organizational structure and human capital are aligned with strategic objectives of the business.
- Provide leadership to the recruitment and training of staff.
- Develop people through coaching, counselling, and motivating associates to attain optimum performance, productivity levels, and staff morale.
- Conduct monthly performance reviews for direct reports and ensure staff performance reviews are conducted.
- Ensure that all Company and HR policies and practices are communicated to staff and practiced.
- Ensure that staff are trained on safe work practices.
- A four-year degree from a recognized University in Industrial Engineering or any other relevant qualification.
- 5-8 years' experience and/or working knowledge of logistics systems and processes, productivity standards, and technology.
- Demonstrated practice of exemplary leadership skills, i.e., ability to manage people, delegate, train and motivate people at all levels.
- Fluency in English and ability to communicate clearly and firmly.
- Executive presence and an ability to confidently interact at with senior managers, executives, and directors.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize appropriately.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective organizational skills.
- Sense of urgency required to work in a deadline driven environment.
- Computer literate (PC and Warehouse Management Systems).
- Knowledge of Lean Operations, Six Sigma and 5S.
- A clean criminal record is mandatory.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in warehouse management, e-commerce fulfilment and last-mile logistics.
- Solid experience and a deep understanding of logistics, e-commerce, retail, fashion, and technology sectors.
- A proven track record in building sales departments and an ability close on deals.
- High level of written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with business partners. and key stakeholders and the ability to work under pressure in a cross functional organization.
- Ability to communicate and articulate issues clearly.
- MS Office, Google Suite.
- Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- You may need to lift and move products that weigh up to 30kg.
- You may need to be able to lift, bend, twist, kneel and crouch.
- You may be required to sit and/or stand and/or walk for a long time, this could be more than 8 hours per shift.
- You must be able to follow safety, and quality standards.
- Salary: R400K/yr - R500K/yr, salary negotiable
- Salary: negotiable.
