- Ensure students are on task and staying focused in lessons
- Use de-escalation techniques to support children displaying challenging behaviour and diffuse difficult situations
- Supporting the class teacher throughout the day and have input into next steps for the children following lessons
- Supporting students inside and outside of the classroom
- Provide academic and emotional support to students with behavioural difficulties and SEN needs - ADHD, SEMH and EBD
- To nurture students and build positive relationships so they respond well inside and outside the classroom
- Help students to be accountable for their own learning
- Be a true role model and able to inspire students in different aspects of their learning
- Previous experience working with SEN and supporting children displaying challenging behaviour
- Experience working in a SEN school, alternative provision or PRU would be an advantage
- Have worked with SEN children previously or in a profession with transferrable skills such as care work/ military/ support workers/ counsellor/ therapist/ social worker
- Previous experience of working with people of any age in challenging situations
- Confident in your ability to build relationships with students and support children displaying challenging behaviour
