The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a confident and experienced Architectural Assistant Part II with a minimum of two years' practical experience. The ideal candidate will have the necessary skills to work across all RIBA Stages (0-7) on new build and existing projects. A good knowledge and understanding of CAD is essential, and prior experience with Vectorworks would be beneficial.As an Architectural Assistant, you will be responsible for working on several architectural projects of varying sizes concurrently. These projects range from small-scale works with a build cost of around £300k up to larger projects with a build cost of up to £5mil+. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include liaising with clients, managing the RIBA work stages as per the client's requirements/appointment agreement, and collaborating with consultants and specialists as needed. You will also be expected to manage client expectations throughout the process and run site meetings, preparing agendas and minutes when on-site assistance is required. Additionally, you will provide support for Directors and Associates.Key Responsibilities:
  • Support and involvement in project running tasks, where projects are at different stages
  • Architectural design and detailing, including perspective sketches and visualisations
  • Precedent studies
  • Feasibility studies, as appropriate to the project
  • Architectural modelling - developing models as well as creating final presentation models
  • Tender packs and supporting information
  • Conversations with suppliers, manufacturers, and specialists
  • Coordinating drawings and detail information provided by others, such as structural engineers and mechanical and electrical engineers
  • Liaising with local councils, independent inspectors, and consultants (CDM, geotechnical, ecology, etc.) throughout the life of the project, as needed
  • Attending site meetings and providing support to resolve any queries that arise
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Expanding your own material and construction knowledge
  • Staying up to date with changes to the Building Regulations and Planning Law
  • Expanding your knowledge of historic country houses and traditional house design principles to inform your work
  • Being mindful of the principles of conservation and having an awareness of available resources, such as English Heritage and SPAB, to be used throughout the design process
  • Providing support to the project team and wider office team(s) when needed
  • Keeping timesheets and helping prepare notes for invoicing (for the Operations and Finance Director), understanding project budgets and timelines
