- A Full-time permanent role
- To liaise with surveyors and external clients as the final escalation point regarding matters associated with MMS compliance and issue of certification, to ensure global consistency in line with strategic plan.
- To lead in provision of technical guidance on interpretation of ISM / ISPS and MLC regulations to ensure global consistency.
- To globally monitor developments in the industry and by competitors. Including representation to Flag and IACS on technical issues where required.
- Establish methods of delegation and technical competency requirements appropriate for ISM / ISPS and MLC regulations.
- To globally monitor adherence to Flag, LR and IACS procedures in order to ensure that defined standards and performance measures are upheld and ensure corrective procedures are enacted and communicated where required.
- To review and endorse audit and inspection reports issued globally to ensure quality and consistent delivery.
- Undertake daily technical correspondence (with critical decision making at level commensurate with role) to internal and external stakeholders as required by current departmental processes and procedures.
- To train and develop team members; present internal and external training courses on specialist area of LR services and mentor new starters.
- To monitor performance of the delivery processes and drive the development and improvement of an efficient and effective global assurance processes for certification of vessels in service in accordance regulations.
- To actively deliver the management of change to LR MMS organization, systems, and processes.
- To provide technical input to the development and implementation of MMS related internal and external training materials and programmes as required.
- A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd’s Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum of two years programme) or Qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship’s officer.
- Membership of an appropriate professional institution.
- Proficiency in the English Language commensurate with the work.
- Demonstrable understanding of the Project Management process, gained through experience and training.
- Knowledge of marine classification and statutory certification commensurate with practical experience of a wide variety of ship types gained by prior employment as a surveyor.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of LR and IACS marine management system processes and procedures.
