Working in a Unitary Authority environment, we work closely with mainstream planning officers and as a shared service, provide specialist advice to both Bedford and Luton Borough Councils.As a Senior Planning Officer, you will play a big part in achieving this vision. With businesses and communities depending on your skills, you will find your greatness using your professional expertise in liaising with planning applicants and agents to deliver positive planning outcomes across authority areas.As a Senior Planning Officer you will find the position a varied, challenging role and therefore you'll be a confident communicator, able to engage with a range of different stakeholders regarding Minerals and Waste planning matters.Your work will predominately focus on development management and the processing of minerals and waste planning applications within Central Bedfordshire and Bedford Borough, you will also have the opportunity to act as case officer for minerals and waste sites across Central Bedfordshire playing a key role with colleagues on both site monitoring and enforcement. Communication, team working, personal organisation and the ability to bring together technical advice and wider consultation responses in your decision making will therefore be key attributes needed for the role.You will ideally have a degree (or equivalent qualification or experience) in Town Planning, be a member of the Royal Town Planning institute and ideally have planning experience working on mineral and waste planning matters in a local authority.
