We are recruiting on behalf of a small animal practice in Crewe, Cheshire for a Permanent Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to join their team to focus on small animal and equine work. This role is full or part time for 20 to 40 hours per week, along with 1 in 4 Saturday mornings for small animal consultations. There will also be a 1 in 4 on-call rota for small animal inpatient care and a 1 in 4 emergency on-call rota for equine, which averages 12 call-outs per year.Key details

  • OOH: On-call rotas as below
  • On-call: 1 in 4 rota for small animal inpatient care, 1 in 4 emergency rota for equine
  • Computer system: Merlin
  • Consultations: 15 minutes
  • Team: 6 vets, 4 RVNs, 3 SVNs, 1 VCA and a supportive non-clinical team
The role
  • The role will be a mixture of small animal and equine work.
  • Involves an on-call rota for equine emergencies but only inpatient care for small animals
  • They offer 15 minute consultations
  • Flexible working and rota patterns available to accommodate a good work-life balance, e.g. rota to work around the school run / holidays /lifestyle
  • The Vet will be responsible for providing a high standard of veterinary care and customer service
  • The Vet will be responsible to ensuring that there is excellent communication between themselves and the team and with clients

  • First opinion small animal and equine practice
  • Beautiful location in a small village close to Crewe with access to transport links and all local amenities.
  • The practice is equipped with a wide range of diagnostics, laboratory and surgical and hospitalisation facilities including ultrasound, laparoscopic equipment, and endoscope. They are also equipped with all the equipment and mobile equipment for horses as you would expect.
  • They have a great local reputation and pride themselves on the communication in terms of client care that they provide. They have a large and loyal client base with many clients who have worked with them for more than 20 years.
  • With the various levels of expertise within the practice they can offer a plethora of various cases and ongoing learning and development opportunities. They can support certificates.
  • The practice provides a high standard of care and customer service to all its patients and clients.

  • Salary: Up to £65,000 pro rata, commensurate to experience
