- Responsible for the development, management, and implementation of the SHE strategy for site, ensuring where required it is linked to the wider UK and Wabtec Global vision.
- Work closely with the site management and supervision to implement best practices and raise awareness.
- Coach and develop the SHE team, to partner with the business and ensure personal and professional development, setting clear objectives and supporting their delivery as required.
- Implement a site audit programme, ensuring compliance with all associated legislation and management system requirements.
- Ensure all audits are carried out and ensure that any remedial recommendations are followed up.
- Principal contact with external, regulatory, audit, and trade bodies on health, safety, and environmental matters e.g. HSE, EA, BSI.
- Lead the continued evolution of the SHE Management System to ensure that it is fit for purpose and delivers the competence required to meet all regulatory, safety, and quality requirements.
- Develop and monitor SHE KPI’s and provide management with statistical analysis and take remedial action where necessary.
- Monitor the implementation of Risk/CoSHH assessments ensuring suitable and sufficient safe working instructions are determined and communicated as appropriate.
- Manage records of incidents and accidents and produce statistics for managers, ensure compliance with RIDDOR regulations, and provide recommendations for ensuring non-repetition of incidents/accident.
- A track record of delivering SHE improvements within a manufacturing environment (desirable).
- Excellent knowledge of all Health, Safety & Environmental legislation with practical experience in SHE law.
- Experience in all regulatory compliance (ISO’s 45001, 14001, 18001,9001 etc).
- Previous people management experience.
- NEBOSH Health & Safety Qualification.
- Engineering qualification/background (desirable).
- Lead auditor qualification (desirable).
- Training qualification (desirable).
- Experience with MS Applications.
