Our products have been installed in more than 120 countries at thousands of customer sites, including school campuses, transportation systems, healthcare centers, public venues, critical infrastructure, prisons, factories, casinos, airports, financial institutions, government facilities, and retailers.Job DescriptionAs a Sr. Product Designer, you have a proven track record of strategic thinking that shows they arrive at intelligent decisions. You have the confidence in coordinating with peers in business and technology to not only execute someone else’s strategy but to start to craft that vision. These leaders oversee a set of concurrent work streams, requiring not only broad creative leadership but a comfort in establishing process and conducting planning. You are an advocate of user-centered-design principles, with a natural curiosity to understand people, and how they interact with products. You’re a system-thinker and are passionate about furthering our Design System while leveraging it to ensure consistency across the product suite. You are a team player who enjoys working and brainstorming with other designers, programmers, and managers.We are seeking a Sr. Product Designer demonstrates a mastery of our defined design process by showing good judgment and flexibility in applying that process to their work, including developing the process and approach for tackling a problem. No longer only following "best practices" but setting themselves up to invent new ways of thinking about a problem, to enable innovation.Creating the team you need; defining the problem, with cross-functional leads.Toolkit: Employs a broad set of design tools to best solve and communicate user flows, interaction and motion, and knows which tool to use depending on scope and phase of the project. These tools include sketching, diagramming, interface design tools (Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator) and native prototyping
tools (Invision). Additionally, seeks out new techniques and tools, tries them out and makes recommendations to the Product Design team.UX Design: Demonstrates and articulates a strong understanding of information architecture, multi-step and cross-platform flows. Consistently considers the holistic user experience, potential states (errors, successes, dead-ends) and product overlaps in their own and others' work. Points out connections and potential collisions between different products, features and platforms. Business & Technical Knowledge: Communicates with product leads and engineers in their language,
designing with consideration for their cares and concerns. Fosters a highly-collaborative design process and, as a result, is trusted by their team to talk through both scope and technical challenges and negotiate thoughtful outcomes. Participates in cross-discipline initiatives, bringing a design voice to the conversation and building trust between the design team and other disciplines.Visual/Design System: Balances existing visual and UX patterns with platform-specific patterns to ensure a consistent, intuitive experience. Identifies and flags instances where existing patterns break down in their own work, as well as work done by other designers on that platform. When diverging from established patterns, identifies, documents and socializes new patterns amongst the design team.UX Research/Data: Partners with User Research and Data Science throughout the design and development process to run research studies and experiments, analyze the findings and validate potential product changes. Socializes their learnings with the rest of product development in a thoughtful, articulate way in order to enhance everyone's understanding of our products and users.Product Thinking: Leads the vision for their product area alongside their product and engineering counterparts. Shapes their team's roadmap and goals by providing input from a user's perspective, and ensures they're pursuing achievable, measurable and impactful goals. In their design work, regularly references product goals and can speak confidently about how their work relates to the broader product vision and company objectives.Qualifications:Roughly 10-15 years' experience, delivered successful work at the scope of "product areas"You know how to work with complex Design SystemsYou have experience in building frameworks for productsYou can partner closely with engineering to ensure pixel-perfect implementation of your designsYou lead the UX designers to achieve the highest quality user experience given the constraintsYou pay almost fanatically close attention to every detailYou have strong presentation skills to explain the intent of your designs to a variety of stakeholdersYou have an exceptional portfolio of work that demonstrates your ability to design and maintain high quality, consistent user interface designsAdditional Requirements:A history of strategic thinking reflected in your ability to speak about your designs with clarity and convictionExperience working in an agile development environment a bonusExperience in design tools such as Sketch or Figma (we use Figma for daily design work)Comfort with Motion Graphics, Prototyping tools, Adobe SuiteHTML5, XML, CSS or similar knowledge is a plus, but not requiredThis position is based in Vancouver, BC and the candidate must reside in the Greater Vancouver Area as you will be required to go into the office on a hybrid work schedule.The base salary range for this position in British Columbia is 95,000 - 110,000 CAD depending on experience.#LI-CA1Basic Requirements
