To be a frontline ambassador for Cheshire East Borough Council. Opening and closing important pedestrianised barriers and multi-storey car parks. To educate motorists on the importance of responsible, safe, considerate and legal parking - particularly in and around our schools to keep children and pedestrians safe at drop off and pick up times. You will play a significant role in reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality through enforcement of parking restrictions. Undertaking patrols on and off-street to ensure an appropriate turnaround of parking spaces is available and to keep traffic moving along the highway in order to facilitate the emergency services who need quick and obstructive free access. Part-time applications are welcome. We are looking to recruit highly resilient and motivated individuals who can demonstrate a commitment to customer service whilst providing efficient and effective parking enforcement.Shifts vary and include Monday to Sunday (including bank holidays) and will sometimes start as early as 06.30am. Evening shifts will include working up to 10pm but can be later due to joint working with other agencies. You must therefore be very flexible in your approach.We are looking for enthusiastic people who can work on their own and within a diverse team environment. Your patrols will cover the whole borough, whilst having a base at either Crewe or Macclesfield. It is important that applicants understand that you must have a full and valid manual UK driving licence, access to your own vehicle, be subject to an enhanced DBS check due to work in and around our schools, have a fantastic attendance record, be able to follow procedures, guidance and rules and have a good understanding of the latest technology such as android devices and/or IOS systems. Essential requirements for the role include having the ability to adopt a fair but firm approach, being consistent, remaining calm and polite when issuing penalty charge notices, and be able to retain both written and electronic records. Full training during a six-month probationary period will be given, a background in enforcement would be an advantage although not essential.A good level of physical fitness and the ability to withstand working all day in a variety of adverse weather conditions is essential. We are looking to recruit someone who enjoys working outdoors. This role can be quite confrontational so you must be resilient and be able to communicate professionally and remain calm and polite at all times.
