Job Summary:As a Legal Counsel in the Monitor Liaison Team (MLT) at Glencore, you will play an important role in facilitating effective communication and coordination between Glencore and two separate external corporate compliance monitors appointed by the authorities. The primary objective of the MLT is to ensure effective coordination of the monitorship process through proactive legal and practical support and guidance.Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and support all activities related to the monitorship, including site visits, data requests, interviews and workshops.
  • Offer timely and proactive legal support to internal stakeholders on all aspects of the monitorship to ensure compliance with resolution agreements and legal requirements.
  • Prepare sites for and facilitate transaction testing by the compliance monitors’ forensic accountants
  • Foster positive working relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, including compliance, legal, finance and other functions and relevant departments, to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and relevant functions and departments to manage implementation of monitor teams’ recommendations.
Essential qualifications and experience required for the Role:
  • Bachelor’s degree in law or a related field; advanced degree or legal qualification preferred.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in a legal advisory role, preferably with exposure to investigations, compliance or regulatory matters in a corporate environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills and ability to multitask and prioritise tasks.
  • Knowledge of compliance monitoring, risk assessment, audit, or assurance processes.
  • Strong familiarity with international legal and regulatory frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and efficiently in addressing legal challenges.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience working with diverse teams of legal and non-legal professionals.
  • Willingness to travel to Glencore’s operations to support on site visits for up to 30% of your time.
