Baar, SwitzerlandGlencore is seeking a highly skilled, experienced Swiss or European lawyer to join the Group legal team. The successful candidate will play an important role in advising on legal aspects of relevant sustainability initiatives across Glencore's operations and be a key contributor in implementing the requirements of these rapidly evolving areas of law. The ideal candidate will have experience in dealing with legal matters on a broad range of topics such as health, safety, environment, social performance and human rights (HSEC&HR) including climate change, responsible sourcing and due diligence requirements, other sustainability topics and non-financial disclosure requirements, human resources, communications, or procurement. This role requires a good understanding of the pertinent existing and emerging regulations, particularly those of the European Union and Switzerland, sustainability principles, and a strong background in supporting industrial and regulatory compliance.Key Responsibilities:
- Provide pragmatic and business-oriented legal advice and support various stakeholders across many jurisdictions and a broad range of sustainability and governance topics, including on implementation of emerging regulatory requirements.
- Stay abreast of regulatory developments related to the operations of natural resources, mining, energy, and trading business including responsible sourcing and conduct legal research and analysis on sustainability related laws and regulations, developments, and trends affecting the company.
- Collaborate with a broad range of internal stakeholders to integrate sustainability principles and regulatory requirements into business practices and decision-making processes.
- Draft and review governance documents, contracts, and other legal documents related to a broad range of sustainability topics (including renewable energy contracts), and procurement.
- Advise on employment-related legal matters, including labour relations.
- Represent Glencore in negotiations, meetings, and legal proceedings as required.
- Master’s degree in law, bar admission in Switzerland or a European country, additional qualifications such as an LL.M. or equivalent preferred.
- 5-7 years of relevant post-graduate experience, with proven track record in a sustainability related role.
- Knowledge of existing and emerging Swiss and/or European sustainability related regulatory regimes and frameworks and demonstrated expertise in sustainability principles, based on a foundation of a strong general commercial or corporate law background with exposure to labour law topics.
- Experience working in an industrial sector such as mining, energy, or manufacturing is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multinational environment and collaborate with diverse teams.
- Native proficiency or fluent in at least two of French, Spanish or German, with fluent English
