  • Provides consultation/intervention on non-formulary drug requests. Patients are counseled regarding dosage therapy, side effects and interactions related to discharge medications. Provides in-service education to hospital personnel regarding new medications as needed
  • Medications are dispensed according to established procedure and State/Federal regulations. Performs clinical services to optimize drug therapy. Clinical assessment decisions are made to include appropriate cost-effective therapy to ensure excellent patient outcomes.
  • Solutions are prepared, labeled and available according to policy guidelines and physician orders. Assures that aseptic technique is followed during preparation.
  • Preparation and delivery of IV admixtures and other medications as related to routine and new orders. Maintains adequate par levels of medications/supplies. Assists in maintaining IV automation systems.
  • Inpatient medication profile is monitored for drug interactions, food/drug interactions, duplicate therapy, and other potential medication problems in drug therapy. Assures that central pharmacy, nursing stations and ancillary areas use appropriate methods for medication storage.
  • Develop and implement clinical pharmacy training programs for staff pharmacists. Implement training programs for undergraduate and graduate pharmacy students. Write articles for pharmacy newsletter.
