- As an underwriting subject matter expert, assess, design, implement, and/or lead underwriting strategies and practices in support of profit and growth objectives for Transportation group.
- Oversee and influence underwriting execution through individual risk and/or portfolio CUREs as well as through the evaluation of underwriter proficiency and underwriting quality.
- Drive the development of key underwriting capabilities and best practices through coaching and trainings while educating underwriters on strategy and guidelines to enhance efficiency and effectiveness for assigned group.
- Monitor trends, emerging issues, and underwriting results for assigned book of business and partner with underwriting leadership to take action, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Eight or more years of commercial underwriting experience with experience in Inland Marine.
- Expert level knowledge of risk appetite and risk selection, Inland Marine products, as well as the regulatory environment and local insurance marketplace.
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to proactively identify underwriting and financial challenges and analyze available information to make timely decisions in alignment with risk appetite.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead and influence others.
- Six years of commercial underwriting experience.
