As a committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant, you’ll be at the heart of our mission to enhance the life chances of pupils with a diverse range of Special Educational Needs (SEN).Picture yourself working alongside dedicated staff and curious young minds, ages 11 to 18. Your role won’t be confined to the sidelines; you’ll be an active participant in shaping the educational landscape. From English to Mathematics, Science to Art, you’ll engage with pupils across various subject areas, ensuring that every student’s unique learning needs are met.Your impact will extend beyond the classroom walls. As a Learning Support Assistant, you’ll lead small group sessions, tailoring your approach to each student’s strengths and challenges. Whether it’s decoding Shakespearean sonnets or unraveling the mysteries of quadratic equations, you’ll be there, providing guidance, encouragement, and a dash of inspiration.About the role:
  • Liaise with staff and other relevant professionals and provide information about pupils as appropriate.
  • Plan, Prepare and deliver specified learning activities to individuals, small groups and/or classes modifying and adapting activities as necessary under the direction and supervision of a teacher.
  • Develop independence in our SEN students using metacognitive strategies to help them become self-regulated learners
  • Take small group intervention sessions.
  • Provide pastoral care to pupils, supporting pupils in social and emotional well-being, reporting problems to the teacher as appropriate.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Confidence, enthusiasm and a passion for learning.
  • Excellent English skills (clear written and spoken English) along with good reading, writing and numeracy skills.
  • The ability to build good working relationships with children, teachers, parents and carers.
  • Experience of working with children with Special Education Needs (SEN), particularly Secondary children on the Autism Spectrum.
  • The ability to manage a small group of children with complex social communication needs.
  • The ability to promote positive behaviour in a nurturing environment is essential.
