Positions Available1DescriptionThe National Directorate of Community Development (DINADECO-Dirección Nacional de Desarrollo de la Comunidad) in Costa Rica has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as a Monitoring & Data Management Specialist. DINADECO is the main entity in charge of managing all matters related to community development in the country and promotes, guides, coordinates and evaluates the Community Development Associations of the country and supports their active participation in achieving the National Economic and Social Development Plan. Today there are more than 4,000 Community Development Associations in the country. DINADECO has identified a need for support to develop its institutional capacity in order to create an information system that tracks the investments made to Community Development Associations and generates indicators necessary for accountability purposes and data-based decision-making.The PCRV will collaborate with the head of DINADECO to to develop a collaborative Work Plan and contribute innovative methodologies and tools for the development of statistics, indicators, and reports that support DINADECO's strategic planning. The PCRV will also develop a manual that establishes a model for monitoring indicators and gathering statistical information from the Community Development Associations and develop trainings for staff and regional groups on data collection and indicator development.   • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Professional work experience in Monitoring, Reporting and Evaluation and/or data management, preferably for social programs and/or non-governmental institutions
  • Well-developed skills and knowledge in the use of statistical tools.
  • Advanced Spanish: Spanish will be needed to communicate with project partners and deliver trainings to DINADECO officials; as well as for daily life interactions (going to work, grocery shopping, building local relationships, etc.).
  • Experience facilitating and designing trainings.
  • Willingness to approach the position through the Peace Corps' philosophy on development.
  • High tolerance for ambiguity and high level of flexibility
