Sr. Backup Administrator (Information Systems Specialist 7) | Limited DurationData Center Services (DCS) is a shared service organization within Enterprise Information Services (EIS.) DCS serves the citizens of Oregon by enabling and supporting the missions of more than 150 State of Oregon agencies, Boards and Commissions through the delivery of Information Technology (IT) services. The DCS team maintains and operates a state-of-the-art Data Center, providing a highly secure environment with redundant infrastructure for high availability and efficiency. The services we provide include network connectivity (WAN, LAN, and Wireless), server hosting (mainframe, iSeries, AIX, Linux, and Windows), email services, data center colocation and data backup services.The Data Protection team is a unit within DCS that provides backup and recovery services along with resiliency planning. In coordination with the customer, the team also works with other DCS technical teams to deliver services that meet their needs. The team provides services to both on-premise systems as well as those managed in the cloud ensuring the systems and the data that resides on those systems are protected from business impactful events. As Sr. Backup Administrator for the Backup team, you will provide the highest level of technical expertise for the backup infrastructure, with a focus on Customer Service. Assisting with the coordination of technical efforts DCS is engaged in and contributes to the future development of the Backup service line.For a full review of the position duties, details, and working conditions, please clickPlease note: This position supports a 24/7/365 operation and may be supporting on-call assignments depending on current business needs.What We Are Looking ForMinimum Qualifications:Six (6) years of information systems experience in: current data storage and backup infrastructure technologies utilizing Commvault or similar systems; ORAn Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND four (4) years of information systems experience in: current data storage and backup infrastructure technologies utilizing Commvault or similar systems; ORA Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND two (2) years of information systems experience in: current data storage and backup infrastructure technologies utilizing Commvault or similar systems; ORMaster's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.Desired Attributes:Skilled in enterprise backup solutions, virtualization solutions such as VMWare, along with Server OS platforms and the impacts to statewide customers.Advanced expertise in system security and data backup/recoverySkill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with superiors, subordinates, peers and other agencies and the public.Strong technical analytical skills in a secure data-center environment.The ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical customers.Demonstrated project management skills.Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every one of the qualifications listed.
