Job Description:KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES:
  • Maintain accurate records of all medical supplies, equipment, and instruments used in the operating theater.
  • Implement and maintain inventory tracking systems to monitor stock levels, expiry dates, and usage patterns.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure inventory accuracy and identify discrepancies.
Key Generic Accountabilities:
  • Comply with the approved relevant departmental policies, processes and standard operating procedures in order to ensure that all relevant procedural and legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a high quality and cost-effective service
  • Contribute in cost-efficient usage of all applicable resources to reduce wastage and unnecessary expense
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant QHSSE management procedures and controls across the department so that AZF provides a safe, world class, secure and environmentally responsible service to customers, the public and its own people
  • Motivate team members and contribute to the identification of opportunities to take part in change initiatives, programmes and projects that reflect international best practice and changes in the competitive environment
  • Collaborate closely with operating theater staff, including surgeons, nurses, and technicians, to understand inventory needs for each surgical procedure.
  • Coordinate with material management to procure necessary medical supplies, equipment, and instruments, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Receive and inspect incoming delivery to verify accuracy, quality, and condition of items. Oversee the storage and organization of medical supplies, equipment, and instruments in designated storage areas within the operating theatre.
  • Monitor inventory levels and reorder supplies as needed to maintain adequate stock levels.
  • Track and monitor the movement of supplies between storage areas and operating rooms.
  • Monitor the usage of medical supplies, equipment, and instruments during surgical procedures, keeping detailed records of items used, dates, and usage quantities.
  • Generate reports on inventory levels and provide regular updates to operating theater management.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative sourcing options where possible.
  • Assist Materials Officer in consumable stock levels for budget planning.
  • Assume any other responsibilities as directed by the direct supervisor.
Necessary knowledge and Experience to be able to do the job:Minimum three year experience in specialty.Education and Certification requirements:
  • Diploma, or bachelor's degree in Nursing/healthcare.
  • Certifications: Certification in inventory management or healthcare management is an advantage.
Job specific technical Skills:
  • IT skills
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
