Offer DescriptionIRTA is currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Postdoctoral Researcher with a PhD related to Biology, Botany, Phycology, or equivalent, to join the Aquaculture Program and the Centre for Innovation in Alternative Proteins (CiPA) and work closely with the Marine and Continental Waters Program.CiPA is a pioneer research and innovation centre that aims to boost sustainable food production for both human and animal nutrition considering all relevant stages of the value chain: starting from the source and ending with the consumer. Its research is focused on the valorisation of alternative protein sources with the ambition to become one of the research leaders, at national and international level and, thus, support the transition to a future with a high quality, safer, more efficient, and more sustainable food system.CiPA counts with unique equipment and infrastructures, at lab and pilot scale, located in the different IRTA centres (Monells, Mas Badia, Fruitcentre, Mas Bové, La Ràpita) covering relevant research lines on alternative protein sources (plant-based, fermentation, algae, and insect).We invite applications from ambitious candidates with relevant research experience and passion to conduct research and innovation activities on the development of microalgal cultures for the production of proteins and other natural substances of interest. The researcher will also participate in on-going projects devoted to macroalgae culture.Tasks and Responsibilities:-Lead and execute research projects and contracts within the following fields: identification, selection, and production of microalgae having a high productive and technological potential to produce proteins and other natural substances of interest.-Focus on the efficiency of microalgal culturing, characterization and harvesting, for potential industrial applications.-Provide support to on-going activities focused on macroalgae culture.-To get involved in the definition of future research strategies at IRTA related to these fields.-Communication and dissemination of research results to relevant stakeholders and policymakers.-Promote relationships and communication with local stakeholders and the agricultural sector to identify opportunities and meet their requirements.-To help positioning the Program as a group of excellence through regular peer-reviewed publications and contributions at national and international congresses.-Supervision of PhD candidates.-Fostering collaboration and integration within the CiPA, and national and international groups working in microalgae farming.RequirementsResearch Field Biological sciences » Biology Education Level PhD or equivalentSkills/QualificationsRequired qualifications and experience:-PhD in Biology, Botany, Phycology, or equivalent.-Proven post-doctoral experience in the research field of microalgal studies, including international experience.-Proven experience in microalgal culturing, and physiology studies oriented to culturing.-Experience in writing project proposals.-Dissemination skills: solid presentation/communication skills, scientific (peer-reviewed journals) and technical writing skills.-Strong organizational capability and ability to learn and successfully work within multidisciplinary teams.-Teamwork skills and ability to stablish and build relationships that will allow pursuing the objectives of the R&D activities.Specific RequirementsDesirable requirements:-Capacity to work in a multidisciplinary group.-Knowledge of the industrial applications of microalgae.-Demonstrating an attractive publication record and participation in funded projects.-Network of collaborators at a national and/or international.-A proactive profile, solutions-focused approach to work, with the ability to adapt to changing requirements.-Capacity to perform high-quality work and commitment.-Receptive to challenges, ability to align the professional objectives and institutional priorities and strategy.Languages ENGLISH Level GoodResearch Field Biological sciences » BiologyAdditional InformationBenefitsEmployee Benefits: 22 vacation days, 3 days of family & work conciliation, 45h of personal days, Friday afternoon off, Compressed Summer schedule from 15/06 to 15/09, Conciliation schedule.Selection processTimings in the Recruitment Process of ref. 77/24 Postdoctoral Researcher in Microalgae for the Centre for Innovation in Alternative Proteins (CiPA)30 natural daysPublication and diffusion of the job advertisement on IRTA's website, EURAXESS Jobs, social media and other specific recruitment places.5 following working daysDistribution of the pre-selected CVs which matching eligibility criteria to the Recruitment Committee.
