And there’s so much for you to get involved in, learn from, and flourish doing.Your new roleHitachi Rail are offering an exciting opportunity to join its growing UK Services business by joining the Etches Park team in Derby. The fleet consists of 33 five car class 810 Bi mode trains that will revolutionise rail in Derby.In this exciting new role you will be responsible for supporting the customer with the live management of the operation Railway. You will be the first point of contract for rail line controllers within the control room, Network Rail signallers, Train Drivers, on-board staff and platform staff as required. You will also be working closely with maintenance planner to ensure all maintenance requirements / routes are set in line with depot maintenance plan.Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:
  • Undertake the role of “Maintainer Control Room Contact” as set out in the TSA Contract.
  • Support the customer with the management of all fleets while in service
  • Act as initial point of contact for all live operational interfaces at all Integrated Control Centres.
  • Co-ordinating the deployment of technical riding Technicians and station based technicians as required to support the fleets in service
  • Monitoring trains in service to ensure the maintenance plan and associated requirements are achieved and trains are delivered to depot as planned.
  • Management of in-service provisions and faults including advice to the customers control room staff, Network Rail signallers, Train Drivers, on-board staff and platform staff as required.
  • Recording of faults directly into Hitachi SAP based maintenance management system
  • Capturing in service maintenance requirements from the operational fleet.
  • Recording, management and train re-allocation to depot with regards to damage, vandalism
Rectification * To be familiar with ECM (Entity in Charge of Maintenance) requirements and their applicability to Hitachi Rail Limited and the responsibilities within the role
  • Access and direct input and recording into the associated control room logs.
  • Monitoring the fleet in service to ensure limited impact on the customer passenger operation and short / long term maintenance plans
  • Working with the associated maintenance depots to ensure proactive materials and staff are
available for fault rectification * Utilisation of control room operational management systems and Hitachi`s SAP based maintenance management systems.
  • Read and extract information from traction and rolling stock drawings and specifications as necessary
  • Undertake competency assessment in line with the customers and Hitachi’s requirements.
  • Develop professionally and support good working relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Learn new skills in accordance with Hitachi’s new business demands as required.
  • Liaise with Hitachi and external personnel as required to complete the duties of the post.
  • Deputise for the Control Room Team Leader as required
  • Other duties as instructed by the line manager including those relevant to the role based on localised requirements
About you​EssentialLicences / Competences
  • Sound knowledge of, and compliance to rules and regulations
  • Sound knowledge of railway operations
  • Technical understanding of traction and rolling stock
  • Strong leadership and management experience
Qualifications
  • Vocational engineering qualifications and experience
  • Management training qualifications or equivalent experience
Behavioural
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times
  • Good team worker and able to build relationship with other stakeholders
  • Position holder must be able to interface effectively with all levels of personnel both within and outside the company
  • Capably of working in stressful environments for long periods of time
DesirableLicences / Competences
  • Intermediate IT skills – typically Word, Excel, SAP
  • Previous experience of using Genius, Trust, Integrale and P2, is desirable but not essential
  • Previous experience of working in operational railway control rooms would be advantageous
