- Provide one-on-one support and mentoring to students, addressing their social, emotional, and mental health concerns in a compassionate and empathetic manner.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and external agencies to develop and implement personalized support plans tailored to each student's needs.
- Deliver structured interventions and therapeutic activities aimed at enhancing students' emotional regulation, self-esteem, and social skills.
- Monitor and assess students' progress, maintaining detailed records and reports to track outcomes and inform future support strategies.
- Act as a trusted confidant and advocate for students, advocating for their needs and facilitating communication between home and school as required.
- Promote a positive and inclusive school culture through the delivery of assemblies, workshops, and awareness-raising initiatives focused on mental health and well-being.
- Previous experience working with children or young people in a mental health or educational setting, particularly those with SEMH needs, is highly advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Knowledge of child development and understanding of the impact of social, emotional, and mental health difficulties on learning and behavior.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, demonstrate resilience, and effectively manage challenging situations with sensitivity and professionalism.
- Relevant qualifications in mental health, counseling, psychology, or education are desirable but not essential.
