The successful candidate should have significant experience in managing a variety of services and systems that include both the business and educational side of the organization. The Technology Services and System Manager reports to the Educational Technology Manager.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIESKey ResponsibilitiesTechnical Design, Implementation, and Maintenance
  • Technical design, planning, implementation, maintenance, performance tuning and recovery of hardware and software for mission critical enterprise systems (networks, servers, Internet links and telephony)
  • Plan for and administer multiple platform servers and server clusters, virtual/physical
  • Manage all system back-up and restore protocols – on/off site, tape-based, and cloud-based
  • Design, evaluate, plan and support school-wide wired and wireless network and computing infrastructure.
  • Perform troubleshooting analysis of servers, workstations and associated systems, hardware and software.
  • Document network problems and resolution for future reference.
  • Monitor servers and network performance and implement performance tuning.
  • Design and manage user account databases, permissions, email services, including anti-virus and anti-spam.
  • Oversee software and network security.
  • Design and manage multiple platform workstation environments (Windows, Linux), network infrastructure, and telephone systems.
  • Control access to all systems, regularly check for unauthorized use of all systems and platforms, virus check all disks copied to the systems and regularly check all servers for viruses, updating anti-virus software as necessary.
  • Provide network administration services, including setting up new users, maintaining email distribution lists, maintaining the user databases, password security, managing access policies and monitoring performance, evaluate, adapt and re-design policies and user databases to fit changing organizational needs.
  • Develops procedures for and carry out daily backup, archiving, housekeeping and other maintenance tasks on a regular and as required basis.
  • Ensure data safety and access security for administered systems.
  • Identify methods, solutions, and provide leadership in order to provide a high level of service to the school community.
  • Staff a centralized help desk to facilitate exchange of information and advice.
  • Work with external hardware and software vendors during new assets acquisition process as well as day-to-day operation (SLA, service incidents, supply orders).
  • Maintain effective spoken and written communication with co-workers and vendors.
  • Work with appropriate colleagues to organize and maintain a current, comprehensive database of school equipment inventory.
  • Assist with the planning, design, research and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software systems, making recommendations as needed.
Active Directory Infrastructure:
  • Design, implement, and maintain the organization's Active Directory services.
  • Manage user accounts, groups, and access permissions within the Active Directory environment.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of Active Directory data.
  • Develop and enforce Group Policies to standardize and secure system configurations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Group Policy settings.
  • Implement and manage Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions.
Technical Support:
  • Provide technical support and assistance to end-users, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software-related issues promptly and effectively.
  • Provide resolutions to incidents raised through the helpdesk system.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate documentation of systems configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Generate reports on system performance, incidents, and security status.
  • Provide regular updates to the Educational Technology Manager on system-related activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand educational technology requirements.
  • Provide training and guidance to end-users on system usage, best practices, and IT policies.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive environment for technology integration in the educational process.
BACKGROUND, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Direct experience in network engineering and management of enterprise-class server and wireless/wired network equipment, network infrastructure, and network operating systems.
  • Experience working in a virtualized server environment – VMWare/Hyper-V
  • Experience deploying and managing cloud-based storage and network management systems as well as SAN/NAS systems.
  • Familiarity with Azure Active Directory and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Experience with Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS).
  • Direct experience managing either Google Apps for Education or Microsoft Office365
  • Broad knowledge and technical skills related to hardware, software, multiple platform LAN and WAN network operations, troubleshooting, and repair
  • Direct experience in software and hardware installation, maintenance and/or repair in Windows, iOS and Android platforms
  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken, fluency in both English and Arabic.
  • Strong interpersonal, time-management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Understanding of and experience with a customer service philosophy and work dynamic.
  • Ability to use initiative and independent judgment while working effectively with students, teachers, colleagues, supervisors, and the school community.
  • Strong analytical abilities and professional office experience necessary.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. CompTIA A+, Network+, Server+ Security+, MCSA, MCSE, CCNA) are a plus.
Qualifications
  • University degree in computer science or related field or significant experience.
