Job DescriptionPower Systems Engineers, Engineering and Asset ManagementDiligent management of asset portfolios is essential to achieve financial, operational, and social objectives.Our Engineering and Asset Management groups holistic approach to managing infrastructure assets, balances the cost, risk, and performance to deliver better financial and customer outcomes.We take a data-first approach to making decisions for asset management, linking business strategy and operational action.Your Opportunity - Power Systems (Director, Associate Director, Manager & Senior Consultant)Power system problems are becoming more complex due to a paradigm shift in the way the power system has operated for decades. To support these challenges, our Power Systems team within our Engineering and Asset Management group is expanding nationally.This is a highly experienced and national power solutions team that understand and have the experience to assist with the opportunities faced by transmission and generation businesses nationally and internationally.The team is growing at all levels with Director, Associate Director, Manager & Senior Consultant opportunities to play a key role in supporting our opportunities in the market by:
  • Delivering wide ranging power system analysis and transmission projects or studies.
  • Performing steady state and dynamic studies using power system study software (PSS/E, PSCAD and PowerFactory).
  • Working with OEM technical teams to understand and resolve the issues found during studies.
  • Developing automation tools (scripts) to perform power system study, analyse and presenting the results.
  • Leading or being involved directly with client engagements and coaching or developing junior staff.
  • Receiving tailored learning and development from some of the most experienced engineering and asset management professionals in the industry.

How are you extraordinary?
  • You have a passion for power system development and understand the generation, transmission, and distribution sector.
  • You understand or are interested in the fast-changing technologies in the renewable sector and the surge in development and penetration these technologies pose to power system engineers.
  • You are interested in power system studies including distribution systems, generation, transmission, industrial system, and new infrastructure projects.
Your ExperienceAt KPMG, we believe diversity of thought, background and experience strengthens relationships and delivers meaningful benefits to our people, our clients, and communities. You will bring to the team your qualifications, skills & experience such as:
  • Tertiary education, preferably in Electrical, Power System or Control systems.
  • Experience in delivering power system projects, ideally in the current Australian market.
  • An understanding, or the ability to rapidly understand, the application of Australian standards and National Electricity Rules to projects and studies.
  • Knowledge of using power system study software, particularly PSSE, PSCAD or PowerFactory.
  • An understanding of power system analysis and control.
  • Experience in writing scripts to automate the power system study and analysis. Experience with Python scripts will be advantageous.
