Job DescriptionIn the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DS&AI) Business Planning & Operations, we support DS&AI’s mission to use Data and AI to turn science into medicines more quickly, more cost-effectively and with higher success rate.This is where you could come in. We are looking for people who want to seize the opportunity to take an exciting step in their personal development journey and play a fundamental part of delivering a world-class Data Science & AI organization.You will play a central role in providing financial, resource and portfolio management to support leadership decision-making and engaging with the broader AstraZeneca business. The role contributes to Great Place to Work by managing SHE delegation & training, travel management to meet sustainability goals, Site Engagement activities and coordination of recruitment and onboarding.You'll act as a central coordination point across departments and teams e.g., HR, Finance, DS&AI BPO and Senior Leaders across AstraZeneca. In doing so, you ensure alignment to business reporting standards and provide appropriate reporting information to inform and develop departmental and AstraZeneca’s business strategy and portfolio.Accountabilities
  • Financial Management
o Track and manage a range of departmental funding streams (functional budget, R&D IT, Enterprise IT, transformation projects etc).o Manage budget and forecast, including follow-up and analysis, raising for leadership decision-making as needed.
  • Capacity and Resource Management
o Manage workforce model.o Manage temporary R&D resourcing (OSP, contractors, students, PhD etc).o Track R&D and IT resources (charge-back and Boundary transferred) to enable comprehensive management across R&D and IT, working in collaboration with e.g. R&D IT and Enterprise IT.o Manage corresponding Purchase Orders.o Manage input to related systems (e.g. CAPIT, UTMOST).
  • Recruitment and Onboarding
o Coordinates recruitment and onboarding of all new hires globally.
  • Scenario Planning to support strategic decision-making.
o E.g. geographic expansion and footprint planning (e.g. Location Optimization).
  • Portfolio Management
o Manage input to, and follow-up on Project Portfolio Management, in relation to capacity and resource planning, in support of departmental LT decision-making.o Track and manage resource utilization, to support LT decision-making (e.g. MyTime).
  • Management of Great Place to Work
o Management of Cornerstone training curriculums for departmental permanent and temporary staff.o Management of Business Process documentation.o Sustainability: Travel management; planning and follow-up to meet sustainability goal.o Safety Health Environment: manage global SHE delegates and training, on behalf of global DS&AI.o Lead Site Engagement activities on behalf of each department and, where applicable, DS&AI.
  • Improvement Projects
o Delivery of improvements and change – support large change projects and deliver smaller change projects independently including training team members.o Process mapping and development - review and continuously improve all processes within the scope of the role to ensure efficient and effective delivery for team members.Education, Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Essential Desirable
  • Process orientated and organized – build and adhere to processes including regular reporting cycle timelines.
  • Meticulous with great attention to detail - ability to spot errors, make corrections confidently, and work comfortably in a constantly evolving environment.
  • Able to communicate concisely via appropriate communication methods with collaborators at different levels including Directors and VPs
  • Entrepreneurial and creative – find new, simple, and innovative solutions to complex problems, working with independence and seeking out new collaborators that can support you.
  • Confidentiality – awareness of data privacy and GDPR with the ability to work with sensitive information in complete confidence.

  • Experience of using Planisware – CAPIT & MyTime
  • Understanding of spreadsheet data structures either in Excel, Smartsheet or similar
  • Existing network in R&D and the wider AstraZeneca organization.
