Upon completion of the training the staff member will be placed into a regular full time rotation line in the specialty department that they have been trained for.Please note: There is an 18 month return of service requirement as a regular/permanent employee within the Island Health specialty department for which they have been trained. Note: staff may move between Island Health departments within that specialty. The post-basic training program requires full time attendance. Plans and provides direct nursing care to patients/residents in the hospital or in the community in accordance with the unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, policies, and the BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice in British Columbia.QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training And ExperienceRegistration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant, with recent related medical and/or surgical experience. When applicants have completed this specialty training they will be moved into a regular position within the Specialty departmentThe hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.Skills And Abilities

Distance Prerequisite Course are required with completion by **early August 2024** - Online courses completion (of BCIT NSCC 7120 Theory 1 and NSCC 7150 / Mosby ECG with PLAR credit/acceptable alternative) achieved while continuing in your current job. 2. Full-time Compressed Timeframe Training Sept-Dec 2024 - Theory and clinical courses completion. Island Health sponsorship includes tuition, books and paid release from your current job to become a full time student in the sponsoring unit. 3.
