- Draft and review legal contracts for TALNA, Bastian Solutions, and other group companies, including master systems and services agreements, letters of intent, vendor contracts, other documents related to commercial, financial and operational matters.
- Provide legal advice and other legal services to management and clients within the TALNA group to ensure employment practices/policies and business transactions comply with multi-state laws and regulations.
- Assist General Counsel with the selection, coordination, retention and evaluation of outside counsel, as applicable.
- Support litigation and disputes on behalf of TALNA, Bastian Solutions, and other group companies.
- Counsel human resources, local management, and supervisors on escalated employee relations and labor matters including issues related to performance, termination, benefits, and leave.
- Provide legal support to new business projects and incorporations of new companies, as applicable.
- Provide legal support and the review of documents related to TALG special projects.
- Support the development of activities to promote and maintain compliance within TALNA, Bastian Solutions, and other group companies, in accordance with TICO corporate guidelines.
- Plan, develop and implement legal training within the TALNA group in cooperation with other legal teams and compliance officers, principally TALG .
- Review, support and update the corporate Code of Conduct.
- Conduct internal compliance investigations and provide legal advice on resolution.
- Support and work together with other legal colleagues of TICO, Toyota Material Handling USA (TMHU), The Raymond Corporation, Toyota Industries Commercial Finance (TICF), and Toyota Industries North America (TINA).
- Juris Doctor (JD) Degree
- Relevant Experience / Background in Human Resources a strong plus
- License to practice law within the U.S. Indiana license preferred.
- Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience with a major law firm, or corporate law department.
- Strong academic record.
- Exposure to and/or familiarity with the following areas of law: Labor and employment, M&A, compliance, contract, privacy and anti-trust.
- Proven management, leadership, communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Experience with all Microsoft Office Products
- Flexibility and creativity in developing legal, business and policy positions
- Ability to organize and prioritize competing projects.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and discretion in all situations.
