At the British Red Cross, we're looking for Surveyors to join our national team. If this sounds like an interesting prospect, please keep reading….A day in the life of an Estates SurveyorIn this exciting role you will be tasked with carrying out the full Estates functions within your designated region. This can include acquisitions and disposals of property, lease renewals, rent reviews, lease breaks, general property management, valuations, and inspections. You may have responsibility for up to 100 properties in your patch.You will seek to minimise costs and maximise returns across your area. You will provide input to the property strategy process, including site specific insight into the regional properties and market data.You will guide the search for suitable properties to match any requirements agreed with UK Operations or Retail. You will manage the disposal of any property designated as surplus to requirements. This can include appointing and instructing agents and solicitors and negotiating directly with landlords where appropriate. You will liaise with internal stakeholders throughout these processes.In this largely autonomous role, you will act as the first point of expert advice to internal and external stakeholders. You'll collaborate closely with the Facilities Management and Building Surveying teams who make up the wider Property Department.The regions can be flexed across the UK, depending on where the successful applicants are based. The successful candidates will be largely working from home, with regular site visits in your areas.To be a successful Estates Surveyor, you'll:
  • Have experience as a qualified Surveyor (MRICS) with demonstrable post-qualification estate management experience of a multi-site portfolio. If you're not qualified then we'll consider applicants with relevant, demonstrable experience.
  • Be a dynamic yet adaptable person with the drive and determination to maximise efficiency in your regional property portfolio.
  • Have experience of Landlord and Tenant Law with a good working knowledge of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 (or Scottish Equivalent). Plus, the ability to directly negotiate property and lease transactions and instruct appointed solicitors on lease negotiations.
Be able to manage and prioritise the workload and transactions across a multi-site portfolio. * Negotiating with all levels of external stakeholders including landlords, professional appointed surveyors, and solicitors.
  • Be a team player who is solution-oriented, communicates well, and influences effectively is key.
  • Have a full UK driving licence (essential)
Please note, the role covers properties across a broad region of the UK.
