- This is a one-year contract.
- Support Elementary School students and collaborate with homeroom teachers on lessons focused on age-appropriate research and library skills.
- Collaborate with homeroom teachers to effectively use the library as a teaching and learning center for students, creating a positive ‘learning hub’ for the school.
- Work with students and teachers to deepen the understanding of literacy practices, children’s literature, and information literacy.
- Collaborate with homeroom teachers to develop and implement the key concepts within their units of inquiry of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP).
- Support students in choosing personal books and research materials.
- Involve students and teachers to efficiently and effectively select, acquire and distribute library materials, equipment and services that are appropriate for the curriculum.
- Keep track of expenditures, circulation, purchase orders, and other records.
- Maintain open and clear communication with the Upper Elementary School community
- Order data entry.
- Assist students, staff members, and caregivers in locating and utilizing materials and technology.
- Maintain a clean, orderly and attractive environment; assist in the preparation of displays, and renew the books on display regularly.
- Maintain familiarity with rules regarding library procedures and handbook, AISG’s Library and Classroom Library Reconsideration Policy, the Dewey classification system, operation of computer systems, and resources to answer patron questions and assist them in locating materials.
- Circulate library material, including checking materials in and out.
- Notify patrons of overdue materials and take necessary steps so that all library materials are returned or paid for.
- Support Chinese Language teachers with the circulation of Chinese books.
- Assist the Elementary School Assistant Principal in creating orders for new library materials.
- Maintain the library collection; shelve books and read shelves for misplaced items.
- Carry out basic repair of library materials when necessary.
- Oversee the inspection and routine maintenance of audio-visual equipment (charging batteries, assuring that technicians replace bulbs, etc.).
- Operate, maintain, and provide for record-keeping and secure storage of audio-visual equipment.
- Perform annual inventory and weeding.
- Supervise students who choose to go to the library during permitted times that are not within their scheduled class time, such as recess.
- Establish library times that allow parents to access the library before and after school, if campus access policy allows.
- To continuously learn and improve as an educator by participating in the multitude of professional development opportunities, by actively collaborating with colleagues, by reflecting on practices, and by co-creating a future pedagogical climate that promotes teacher growth and development.
- To maximize the educational impact of flexibly designed learning spaces that are purposely built to drive innovation and creativity in the classroom.
- To contribute to a positive environment where the administration, teachers, parents and students alike are empathetic, supportive and believe in the well-being of everyone in the community.
- To apply the attributes of a positive and valued member of a Professional Learning Community and the IB learner profile to ensure a holistic approach for student-centered learning.

- Bachelor’s degree or higher;
- Teaching certification required;
- Minimum of 2 years of successful full-time teaching experience;
- PYP experience preferred;
- Experience working as a school library technician or similar;
