Job Summary:Want to revolutionize the packaging industry?As a Chemical Engineer at Mushroom Material, you will play a pivotal role in our mission to harness the power of mycelium for sustainable packaging. You'll work alongside a passionate team of scientists and engineers to advance our chemical engineering, polymer coatings, production processes and develop innovative packaging solutions. You will have the opportunity to lead innovative research projects in the fields of mycology, bio-polymer coatings and scale production processes.Key Responsibilities:
  • Setup and fitout chemical lab.
  • Conduct research into coatings with biopolymers.
  • Conduct research into the production processes for coatings and biopolymer production.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and test new mycelium-based packaging prototypes.
  • Optimize production processes for scalability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Analyze data, track experiments, and maintain detailed records of research.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in coating and bioplastic technologies to inform our research and development.
Required qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or similar with 5+ years experience in a related field (Master's or Ph.D. preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of chemical processes ideally in industrial processes, (bio) plastics and biology.
  • Experience with chemical laboratory techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and communicate scientific findings effectively.
  • A passion for sustainability and an understanding of the environmental impact of traditional packaging materials.
