- Prepare Full Estimates: Work on large and intricate projects, preparing comprehensive estimates based on client documents and requirements.
- Manage Change Orders and Claims: Analyze and negotiate change orders and claims with contractors on behalf of the client, ensuring fair and accurate outcomes.
- Consult and Collaborate: Engage with clients, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers to discuss estimates, cost reductions, and resolve any issues that may arise during the estimation process.
- Estimating Management: Take charge of estimating tasks for various projects, ensuring accuracy and efficiency throughout the process.
- Evaluate Bid Documents: Review bid documents and technical specifications to understand project requirements thoroughly.
- Obtain Pricing: Gather pricing information from subcontractors and vendors to include in the estimates.
- Develop Bids and Proposals: Create and submit bids and proposals based on the gathered information and project specifications.
- Analyze Cost Data: Analyze cost data, unit prices, and general requirements to develop reliable estimates for all building systems.
- Ensure Accuracy: Verify that pricing within the estimates is complete and accurate, reflecting recent pricing data and subcontractor bids.
- Document Preparation: Prepare and assemble all necessary estimates and bid documents required by the owner, ensuring completeness and clarity.
- Comparison Analysis: Conduct comparison analyses between current estimates and previous projects, providing clear explanations for any variances to project stakeholders.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Building Construction, or a related field.
- Three or more years of experience as an Estimator for commercial construction projects.
- Experience with full project scoping, estimating, and bidding across various project components such as civil, structural/envelope, finishes, MEP/FP, and building equipment. Experience in handling US/Canada based projects is a plus.
- Knowledge of construction practices, materials, market conditions, and standard industry practices. Experience in handling US/Canada based projects is a plus.
- Ability to develop estimates at multiple phases, from design through construction.
- Proficiency in discipline-related systems and estimating tools.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment while maintaining strong professionalism.
- Desire to learn and adapt to new methods and software.
