The team provides acute care and crisis services to mental health clients in the Sutherland shire, or who present to the emergency department of Sutherland Hospital. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.Plan, coordinate and deliver high quality acute mental health care to consumers consistent with South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) policies, procedures and standards.The role involves a range of specialist mental health interventions within a multi-discplinary team including triage, comprehensive assessments, risk assessments, clinical formulation, management of risks and safety planning, brief psycho-education and close liaison with all relevant stakeholders as part of collaborative care and discharge planning.The Clinical Nurse Consultant will be responsible for providing mental health interventions to clients that present to the Emergency Department of Sutherland Hospital and to support the Community Mental Health Acute Care Team in the provision of direct clinical care by providing expert clinical advice.The CNC is an expert practitioner who through leadership facilitates clinical practice, is creative, visionary and relevant. The CNC will promote a mental health nursing service that fosters excellence in clinical, educational and professional leadership. The CNC contributes to quality health care by collaborating with health care providers, consumer groups and other community services by developing clinical practice and family oriented standards in emergency and acute mental health care.The CNC will have excellent workplace understanding of quality improvement principles, EEO and WH&S requirements.Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.All Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.SESLHD is committed to creating a workplace that reflects the diversity of our community.   • Sound knowledge and experience in Acute Psychiatry and Community Mental Health
  • Demonstrated understanding of nursing processes and their contributions to Best Practice Principles
  • Proven clinical leadership skills in Mental Health
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct a thorough Mental Health assessment
  • Competency in the use of information and communication technology, including standard office software for email, internet searches, analysis of clinical data, presentations and clinical documentation
  • Current unrestricted NSW Drivers Licence
