Assistant CAD Manager - Cape TownFull job descriptionThe Assistant CAD Manager is to provide comprehensive support to the CAD Manager in optimizing the CAD system and ensuring smooth project execution. The incumbent will oversee CAD document management, handle drawing requests from various departments, and facilitate communication between internal teams and external consultants. The individual must leverage their expertise to assist with maintaining CAD protocols and procedures while providing excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders The following job objectives were found to be relevant to this job: CAD System Maintenance and Optimization:Assist in maintaining and optimizing the CAD system.Maintain the V&AW CAD system and base plans. CAD Office & Document Management:Ensure smooth operation of CAD office functions.Provide support for plotting and electronic filing submissions.Assist in managing CAD resources and equipment.Maintain CAD document archive and retrieval system for projects.Prepare design proposals of minor building alterations/additions and tenant layout alterations.Manage the V&AW Building Register Precinct Plan.Support CAD Manager with the V&AW Cost Centre Plans for Finance.Manage drawing/project management systems such as BIW, Aconex, BIM 360, PPO, Autodesk Construction Cloud.Assist CAD manager with managing aspects such as CAD plotter printing paper supply, procure Autocad Renewals, and assist with installations.Support CAD manager in coordinating and retrieving external consultant’s documents and drawing information requests.Assist CAD manager with managing and updating the V&A CAD filing system, including as-built architectural and consultant’s drawings, precinct services drawings, tenant leasing base plans, archiving, and document retrieval.Assist with transferring process for drawings and documentation from drawings management systems to V&A CAD filing system such as B.I.W, Aconex, Blue-beam, BIM 360, Plannon, Autodesk Construction Cloud.Assist with Development department support (Administrator) for PPO- Project Portfolio Office System. Drawing Management:Attend to CAD drawing requests from different departments promptly and accurately.Provide CAD support between V&A and external consultants to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.Assist CAD manager with managing and coordinating drawing requests internally and externally for various departments and stakeholders.Assist CAD manager with drawing support for the Town planning department with SDP Submissions.Provide existing services drawing support /assistance with Precinct Wayleave applications.Assist Fit-out manager & Project Managers with project related documents (Fit-out Manuals, Specification documents).Support operations with space numbers, drawing & asset information required for Planon.Assist Green star consultants with collating existing building information for energy performance & greenstar rating submissions. Project Support:Provide support to CAD manager in consulting and coordinating as-built survey packages (2D and 3D surveys).Manage large-scale format printing for the business under CAD manager's guidance.Coordinate with relevant building architects on updates/changes with CAD manager's oversight.Maintain V&A cadastral & topographical Survey updates with guidance from CAD manager.Manage all V&A precinct and building 3D scans and 2D surveys under CAD manager's direction.Oversee Precinct Geo-technical reports, collating all reports across the precinct with CAD manager's supervision.Prepare overall building leasing plans, base plans, QS certificates for the new MRI finance & leasing system (Project still in planning phase) with CAD manager's assistance.CAD Protocols & Procedures:Ensure compliance with CAD protocols and procedures.Implement best practices for CAD document management and workflow efficiency.Assist CAD manager with developing, implementing, and monitoring CAD protocols and procedures for the business.Organize regular departmental meetings with the team.Set up Autodesk Construction Cloud – V&A Hub for all new development buildings, including project set-up, allocating licenses, creating folder structure, creating file naming standards, setting-up folder permission settings, and managing requests from project consultants.Transfer existing BIM 360 projects to the V&A ACC hub.Arrange Autodesk Construction Cloud Training with external consultant for development project managers and external project teams.Assist CAD manager with developing BIM Strategy Proposal with an external BIM Consultant for development projects.Analyze all our current Revit models.Assist with setting up standards for the integration between BIM and Planon Asset management software.Assist with building and maintaining a Digital Twin for the V&A Waterfront precinct.Create Standardized EIR – Employers Information Requirements.Set up BIM Standards and data management for old & new buildings. Stakeholder ManagementDevelop strong working relationships with all relevant stakeholders (internal /externa)Provide CAD support between V&A and external consultants to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration.Act as a point of contact for internal departments regarding CAD-related queries and support needs.Liaise with external consultants to coordinate CAD-related activities and ensure project requirements are met.Educational requirements relevant to this job:Degree / Diploma Built EnvironmentCAD Certification – AutoCAD & RevitOther Programs advantages – Corel Draw, Photoshop or other Design SoftwareKnowledge requirements relevant to this job:Specialist knowledge of CAD and computer graphics software, in particular AutoCAD, RevitComputer application and relevant softwareReading plans, design drawings, and technical specificationsProject management principles and proceduresFormal application and approval procedures related to Local Government regulationsBuilding/infrastructure/construction (industry knowledge)Construction and Building CodesRelevant LegislationSkills requirements relevant to this job:Diagnostic thinkingMechanical/technical reasoningNumerical AcumenPlanning, organizing, and coordinatingTime managementAnalytical thinkingLogical Problem-solvingCollaborationCustomer ServiceCommunication skill (both written and verbal)High standard of computer literacy and general proficiency essentialExperience requirements relevant to this job:Minimum of 5 years’ working experience in a computerized drawing office in an Architectural or Engineering professional firm is essential3-5 Years’ Experience coordinating large commercial and retail projectsPlease note: Recruitment for this role will be strictly in line with our Employment Equity requirements.
