- Participate in the definition, planning, organization and update of annual nutrition project activities and its budgeting, in close collaboration with the Director of Programs to ensure all aspects of the program cycle are carried out and that nutrition programs are evidence-based and implemented i comprehensively and cost-effectively.
- Collaborate with Program Manager, Medical Coordinator and Senior Nutrition Officers to ensure a high standard of program quality and compliance with donor requirements.
- Ensure close coordination with other humanitarian actors and donors in nutrition and food security (e.g. WFP, UNHCR, MoH and additional donors and NGOs).
- Supervise nutritional research and ensure that they are conducted according to protocols, participate in identifying the target population, sample size and methodologies for planned nutritional surveys or studies.
Analyse HIS/HMIS data to drive decision-making and contribute to the preparation of reports.
- Contribute to formulating of concept notes while adhering to project submission deadlines, including budgets, with special emphasis on innovative approaches and methods to deliver nutrition services.
- Participate in trainings and represent Medical Teams at nutrition-related meetings, especially at the National level.
- Conduct performance evaluations and enforce disciplinary procedures as per Medical Teams policy.
- Ensure safeguarding of program participants and employees through promoting an environment of awareness and upholding the code of conduct provisions of Medical Teams Protection from Sexual Exploitation & Abuse, Child & Vulnerable Adult Protection, and harassment-free workplace policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, LICENSES, & CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science and Technology or a related field is required. A Master's Degree is an added advantage.
- Additional studies in Project Planning and Management or Monitoring and Evaluation are required
- Minimum 5 years of nutrition field experience, inclusive of 3 years at a senior management level, is required.
- Experience working with UNHCR, WFP, other INGOs, and working in emergency operations is an added advantage.
KNOWLEDGE
- Extensive knowledge of nutrition principles, management of acute malnutrition and conducting nutrition surveys and assessments
- Extensive knowledge of project cycle management
- Extensive knowledge of UNHCR, WFP and other donor guidelines.
- Knowledge of ERP systems.
- Highly skilled in nutrition project planning, implementation, monitoring, and coordination.
- Skilled in conducting trainings and providing mentorship to develop a high-functioning team.
- Skilled in developing and managing budgets and adhering to donor requirements.
- Skilled in using the HIS/HMIS database and making data-driven decisions.
- Skilled in research and report writing.
- Keen desire to build capacity of staff.
- Highly organized and able to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines.
- Ability to be flexible and manage stress, especially in situations which require a high degree of diplomacy.
- Ability to support MTI Calling and adhere to the MTI Code of Conduct
