- Act as a logistics specialist to the organization.
- Analyze the performance indicators (KPI) in place and work on improvement related to these indicators.
- Collaborating with supervisor on controlling cost and implementing efficiencies
- Collaborate with AIM sites, transport supervisors, dispatchers to ensure that the transportation department supplies materials to the appropriate sites at the right time and with the right quantities.
- Analyze the efficiency, optimization of movements, routes and weekly driver management.
- Ensure the proper use of systems and procedures in place and continuous training of best practices
- Seek the constant improvement of costs and operating methods and take the necessary measures to achieve this.
- Ensure that the teams in place communicate with all internal stakeholders: buyers, suppliers, customers and other dispatchers to organize the collection and delivery of scrap metal in an efficient and timely manner.
- Review the ground transportation network and find new ways to maximize the volume and weight of products transported while minimizing operating costs.
- Ensure that transport-related equipment (tractors and trailers) are properly used, maintained and repaired in a timely manner and that record keeping complies with the requirements of the Ontario Ministry of Transport and DOT laws and regulations.
- Ensure that independent truckers adhere to company guidelines and that all transportation and rental contracts and insurance documentation are kept up to date and stored in an organized manner
- Hold periodic independent driver meetings to discuss complaints, raise concerns and maintain supportive relationships.
- Hold periodic safety meetings with company drivers in collaboration with the Compliance, Road Safety and Health & Safety teams.
- Implement special projects or perform other tasks not mentioned above as requested by management.
- Work across departments with sales, finance, engineering maintenance etc.
- Daily responsible for the drivers assigned to Ontario, Michigan and Ohio
- Perform dispatch management
- Attend meetings related to the Ontario region and transportation department
- General supervision
- Solve problems related to the transport of material
- Ensure best management practices are in effect
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics or Business Administration;
- 10 years of management experience in the transport sector;
- Knowledge of transport methods, costs and benefits
- High knowledge of laws and regulations in the field of road transport
- Develop and implement profit improvement plans and change management plans.
- You are a leader, team manager and a good mobilizing communicator;
- You are customer service oriented and have a strong sense for results;
- You are organized, analytical and pragmatic;
- You are recognized for your sense of negotiation and conflict management
- You are able to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships and maintain a level of professionalism at all times.
- Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
