- Possession, or within 6 months of possession, of a CCT in General Medicine or Neurology leading to entry onto GMC Specialist Register
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
- Evidence of wide experience and a high level of competence in stroke medicine
- Appropriate knowledge base and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems: demonstrates clear, logical thinking/analytical approach
- Knowledge and application of up to date evidence based practice
- Ability to perform effectively as a member of a team, including a multidisciplinary team and to motivate and develop staff
- Ability and willingness to work within the Trust and NHS performance targets
- Ability to balance individual requirements against those of the department/Directorate
- Commitment to active clinical governance and learning from errors
- Demonstrates clarity in written and spoken communication.
- Always considers patients preferences when discussing treatment options
- Demonstration of an interest and commitment to teaching
- Ability to teach clinical skills to trainees and others. Enthusiastic and ability to inspire others.
- Experience in, and commitment to clinical audit
- Experience of hosting or recruiting patients to NIHR CRN portfolio research and understanding of GCP in Clinical Research
- Ability to appraise research critically and apply research outcomes to clinical problems
