- Be a 'hands on' engineer, present on the shop floor, providing Manufacturing Engineering solutions to support the build process.
- Develop timely, robust practical solutions for build/quality issues in fabrication and vehicle assembly environments.
- Explore the business case for process automation where applicable, aiming for repeat-ability, efficiency, and quality improvements.
- Develop processes to improve dimensional stability through effective jigging/fixture/alignment.
- Continuously drive efficiency improvements that reduce the build hours per product.
- Lead, develop, and implement quality manufacturing improvement programs across the area of responsibility.
- Implement a customer-focused, operational improvement culture on the shop floor.
- Coordinate cross-functional team activities to optimise cost performance through capital investment programs, operating standards, and waste minimisation via a continuous improvement culture with lean principles.
- Support and lead structured problem-solving and process improvement activities.
- Provide design for manufacturing input at early stages in the new product development process.
- Ensure adherence to Environmental, Health and Safety, manufacturing, and quality standards and procedures.
- Ideally educated to Bachelor level or equivalent in a Mechanical Engineering discipline.
- Alternatively, HND or an Advanced/Higher Apprenticeship in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering.
- Technical skill set developed in complex engineering environments.
- Successful track record of manufacturing excellence.
- Experience in a similar role within an industrial or technical environment.
- Operating in complex organisations.
- Planning experience using SAP and ideally trained in SAP.
- Structuring BOMs from Drawing to Manufacture.
- Hands-on approach.
- Flexible attitude.
- Strong information management and presentation skill set.
- Good communication skills, commercial, and business awareness.
