The individual in this role will be responsible for supporting the delivery of an assigned technical scope of work for a study, project, or package. This exciting position will give you the outstanding opportunity to identify risks and opportunities to build value within the engineering team. Depending on the needs and location of the team, you will need to work PDT or MDT or relocate to a specific office (site-based). You must also currently be a student enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution and will be enrolled throughout the duration of the co-op term (you will also be returning back to the post-secondary institution once the co-op term is completed). Don't miss out on this opportunity to work (and adventure) in one of the most sustainable cities in the world!ResponsibilitiesBe a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedureAssist with trade-off studiesAssist in assembling technical scope of work for material and/or contract packagesParticipate in design reviews and workshopsProvide support in the advancement of smart engineering, engineering sustainability through design, and the engineering overview processSupport the development of the Scope of Work (SOW) for the Engineering Work Packages (EWP)Attend weekly project update meetings and ensure minutes are kept and distributedSupport site engineering and construction activities either from the home office or at siteSustain relationships with the Service Provider, Teck Project Development Group, and operating staffCoordinate engineering work between fields and between the engineering group and other project groupsSupport Team Leads in the preparation of technical decisions and information required to maintain the scheduleQualificationsPursuing a Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in an engineering field (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation and Controls engineering)Basic understanding or curiosity about project controls, scope management, and quality management would be an assetCuriosity about project management systems and an understanding of multiple phases of project executionAble to work collaboratively in diversified teamsUnderstanding of concepts of "fit for purpose" and "value engineering"Proficient in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, Power Point and OutlookGood written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsSelf-starter with the ability to work on several tasks simultaneouslyAble to learn new technologies and platforms quickly, accurately, and efficientlyAbility to communicate with precision in a technical environmentAble to articulate sophisticated concepts clearly and in a way a diverse audience would understandWage Range: $4600 - $5900Salary is commensurate with the number of academic semesters and prior co-op experiences completed.About TeckTeck Resources Ltd. is Canada's largest diversified resource company committed to responsible mining and mineral development with business units focused on steelmaking coal, copper, and zinc.
