Civil Contracts Manager – Water, New ZealandMy client is a leading New Zealand civil contractor specializing in heavy civil projects throughout the country. With a commitment to excellence and innovation, they deliver high-quality solutions across all infrastructure sectors. As water and wastewater becomes a more prominent focus within the industry they are looking to build a specialist team to focus on this key sector.I'm looking for an experienced Civil Contracts Manager to oversee major water projects in Wellington and the broader region. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing water and wastewater based projects such as water treatment works and pipelines. They will be responsible for bidding on projects, planning and programming work, and ensuring successful project delivery. The Civil Contracts Manager will play a crucial role in liaising with clients, subcontractors, and design specialists to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the bidding process for water projects, including tender preparation, submission, and negotiations.
  • Develop project plans and schedules, ensuring alignment with client requirements and company objectives.
  • Oversee the execution of projects, monitoring progress, resolving issues, and managing risks.
  • Coordinate with design specialists to ensure technical specifications are met and any design changes are implemented effectively.
  • Manage subcontractor relationships, including procurement, contract negotiations, and performance evaluation.
  • Maintain strong communication channels with clients to provide updates, address concerns, and ensure satisfaction with project deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to optimize project performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree of equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing water-based projects
  • Extensive experience in bidding for construction projects, including preparing proposals and conducting negotiations.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, methodologies, and tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with a focus on driving results and fostering a positive team environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
