KIPP NYC currently serves more than 11,000 students and alumni, has a staff of more than 1,000 (11 % of whom are alumni), and continues to grow!Job DescriptionPosition OverviewKIPP NYC will double our high school enrollment in the next two years to serve 2400 students across two campuses in the South Bronx. In preparation for this high school expansion, KIPP NYC will engage with all stakeholders including current HS staff, students & families as well as our KIPP NYC region, our South Bronx community, to foster investment, alignment and innovation in our final design.The KIPP NYC Senior Director, High School Expansion will be responsible for the strategic execution of the high school expansion plan to effectively scale our growing High School. In collaboration with the Chief Schools Officer and Regional Leadership, the Senior Director will develop the growth strategy, while instituting a number of key programmatic innovations to better prepare our graduates to thrive in college, careers and beyond. The Senior Director will manageThis role is based in NYC and will require travel to our schools. Cadence and frequency of travel to schools is determined by your leadership team. If you relocate outside of a commutable distance or out of the state of NY, your employment will be subject to review, which may include separation from KIPP NYC. It is important that you notify HR if you move or have plans to relocate.General Duties and Responsibilities, but not limited to
  • Design a high school expansion process and plan that incorporates KIPP NYC regional goals and current high school goals, grounded in our KIPP NYC High Graduate Aims
  • Develop and lead implementation of the high school expansion process and plan, ensuring all stakeholders drive work forward according to project timelines, goals, and directives.
  • Perform a gap analysis of the current high school expansion process, and continue building effective project plans to drive work forward, including: building plans, operational and financial imperatives, and recommendations from key stakeholders
  • Manage the existing HS Working Group and the launch of an Advisory Group to identify current attitudes and potential programmatic shifts
  • Analyze data from community stakeholders throughout the process, including reviewing the strengths of the initial high school design
  • Compile relevant research necessary to support the planning for the next 5 years of HS expansion
  • Support the design of an instructional vision based on research, site visits, interviews with KIPP NYC leaders and highly regarded high school practitioners, that will outline course offerings and pedagogical approach, including a comprehensive plan for arts, sports, culture and technology initiatives
  • Work directly with K - 8 stakeholders to build investment, improve HS matriculation and deepen understanding of the K - 12 vision of KIPP NYC including how the HS helps to support the achievement of the Graduate Aims and College and Career Readiness goals
  • Create meaningful opportunities for community partnerships between the school community and the South Bronx.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master’s degree in relevant areas (PMP, education, program management etc.) preferred
  • At least 7+ years of experience, with a minimum of 4+years of experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously, school-based experience highly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to indirectly manage and influence teams and individuals to meet specific and strategic outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple projects and competing priorities across multiple teams of people with a meticulous attention to detail
  • Demonstrated success managing a large budget and a clear understanding of how to read a detailed financial statement
  • Demonstrated passion for and commitment to the KIPP mission
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Team player with strong interpersonal/influence skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel
  • Curiosity with a desire to work in a entrepreneurial environment and in designing new systems and projects
  • Strong interpersonal skills that contribute to a collegial working environment and a healthy measure of the character traits we value: zest, grit, hope, love, social intelligence, gratitude and a sense of humor.
Additional InformationCompensation and Benefits:KIPP NYC offers a competitive salary ranging from $128,000 to $145,000 per year. Salary ranges at KIPP NYC are standardized based on role level and role function. Individual salaries are determined through a lens of equity, accounting for years of experience relevant to the role and scope of responsibilities, and are benchmarked against others within the same salary band.KIPP NYC offers a generous benefits package including, but not limited to, the following:
