The Junior Inspector, rcji will be part of the Contract Administration team. You will:
- Complete field inspections including independently performing a broad range of technical inspections in accordance with established standards and regulations
- Conduct inspections of methods and materials used by contractors, while ensuring conformity
- Assess and analyze compliance with contract documents
- Ensure environmental protection measures are installed and functioning
- Complete materials testing including compaction testing, bag and tag materials, and conduct field surveys to verify dimensions and grade
- Accurately record inspection activities in Field Diary, provide continuous evaluation of construction progress, and provide reports to Contract Administrator on construction activity
- You hold the rcji (road construction junior inspector) certification with OACETT or are an undergraduate engineering student and/or a college civil engineering technician or technology student.
- You can make decisions and exercise independent judgment within defined parameters and in alignment with business objectives
- You are not afraid to raise your hand when you need help or guidance
- You are trusted and provided freedom to work independently but also contribute to the overall team success
- You are able to travel and be away from home for extended periods of time
- You enjoy writing reports used by clients
The ideal candidate will have completed a post-secondary program, preferably in Civil Engineering. Additionally, you should have:
- High motivation with results-oriented focus
- Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to navigate confidential matters and manage sensitive data
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Valid Class G driver’s licence
