- Partner with our customers in support of Toromont Cat's and individual site safety requirements
- Act as an industry specific resource and provide support to Toromont Cat's mining business units throughout the Toromont Cat territories
- Audit work-groups and mining site locations for compliance with corporate policies, applicable legislation, regulations and standards
- Assist site management in understanding and correcting compliance deficiencies through the implementation of effective and sustainable actions
- Assist site management in the investigation of incidents to determine root causes and drive the development of corrective actions and preventative measures
- Assist site management in the implementation of health and safety programs, including but not limited to training, assist in the drafting of site specific SOPs, emergency response plan, medical monitoring program (if needed)
- Conduct research on specific topics and provide recommendation of solutions, e.g. fall protection, air quality, exposure to designated substance (if any)
- Collect and analyze safety data and conduct related research to identify trends
- Prepare and produce reports and statistics for management
- Provide “best industry practices” solutions for workplace hazards
- Identify training requirements and gaps for site management and, where possible, conduct and/or coordinate training and education programs for employees, management and customers as required based on site requirements
- Work directly with external authorities and groups (government, industry, vendors) by representing Toromont Cat at meetings, hearings, inspections and committees
- Post-Secondary Education in a related field with over 3 years experience in an operations position
- Minimum 3 years experience in the areas of Occupational Health and Safety, Workers Compensation, Dangerous Goods, Fire Safety and Training, Surface and Underground Mining
- Safety conscious with high standard investigative, analytical and human relations capacity
- Improvement mindset with sound working knowledge of the Ontario OH&S Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification would be an asset
- Customer centric and strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships and share information across all levels of the organization
- Exceptional organizational skills with a sense of urgency and ability to work collaboratively in a team
- Results driven and proactive with the ability to manage and prioritize with multiple tasks in a fast paced and deadline driven environment
- Self-motivated professional and team player with strong business acumen and attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and comfortable with systems and other in-house tools
- Willing and able to travel to multiple locations, manage rotational schedules ongoing and work flexible hours in support of the business needs
- A valid Driver’s Licence and clean Driver's Abstract
