- Collaborates with internal pricing and analytics teams to transform technical pricing and analytics models into the street pricing which is ultimately delivered to our customers
- Is a key partner with business development and segment management to determine regional / segment pricing strategies and executes on those strategies to successfully grow our business (top & bottom line)
- Monitors our competitive position in all segments across Canada by collaborating with business development and internal competitive intelligence teams and leverages this information to improve our business
- Works closely with the analytics team to bring to market sophisticated pricing models including machine-learning as well as dynamic market models
- Works in close collaboration with other areas of the business such as Corporate Actuarial, Claims, Finance, Analytics, Underwriting and Government Relations to develop a deep understanding of Aviva’s personal insurance business
- Responsible for working with external regulators and other stakeholders to influence decisions which will impact the ability to achieve Aviva’s business outcomes.
- Accountable for leading regional and segment street pricing teams each of which will specialize in the performance and nuances of their region / segment to deliver on each segment’s strategy to ensure we are delivering desired results as well as addressing factors that are impacting profitability
- Provide business insight and support ad-hoc requests for Pricing and the broader PI business
- Responsible for leading and motivating a team of actuarial professionals to achieve outperforming results. This includes supporting their professional development – coaching, providing feedback and the overall professionalism of the work performed by the actuarial pricing team
- Manages relationships with various internal and external stakeholders such as Underwriting, Analytics, Claims, Reserving, Finance, Distribution and Provincial Regulators.
- Undergraduate degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, or other related field or equivalent experience.
- Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society
- 7+ years of relevant pricing experience
- 7+ years of leadership experience
- Governance and risk management experience.
- Solid negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Knowledge of the regulatory environment and provincial rate filing requirements
