Solar Technician

- Perform preventative maintenance on utility scale photovoltaic power plants and storage systems.
- Complete on a daily basis, maintenance logs, work orders, time cards, service reports, and any other required paperwork or computer work for the specific project/assignment.
- Perform OEM testing, troubleshooting, repairs and upgrades/ revisions to a broad range of equipment in the renewable industry.
- Monitoring (DAS) Systems, as well as other components of large PV power plants and energy storage systems.
- Conduct site safety assessments and identify all safety hazards on job-site, lead daily safety meetings, properly fill out JHA & LOTO documentation.
- Re-Commission PV systems, including but not limited to; insulation testing (megger testing), I-V curve testing, thermal imagery, torque tests and performance evaluations.
- Review project plans, specifications & installation instructions to ensure that the project is built according to the approved design and specifications
- Participate in the 24hr/weekly “On Call” rotation.
- Other duties as assigned
- 2+ years electrical experience
- Appropriate licensing to work as electrician in the designated area.
- Working knowledge of solar industry best practices, NEC requirements, and diagnosis/repair of common solar failures.
- Ability to work well with subcontracted Construction personnel in resolution of issues identified in the field during that phase of a project.
- NABCEP certification or other component specific solar certifications a plus
- Commercial Photovoltaic Maintenance/Repair: 1 years
- Hands-on commercial photovoltaic electrical : 1years
- High school or equivalent (Required)
- OHSA regulations
- Knowledge of electrical code and OHSA regulations
- Ability to work independently
- Focused on efficiency and removing labor hours from tasks or projects
- Knowledgeable in all MS applications: Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code
- Willing to travel on short notice
- Experience using a CMMS system for maintenance tracking (SAP Preferred)
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members
- Demonstrable commitment to safety

- Confident, ability to work on own initiative and resourcefulness to complete all assigned tasks
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment

- Good knowledge and skill for troubleshooting of AC / DC high, medium, low voltage and control circuits.
- Knowledge of in-depth testing and troubleshooting of medium voltage and high voltage equipment to include transformers, potential transformers, current transformers, current transducers, breakers, relays, contactors, breakers, motors and inverters.
- Highly experienced in using and understanding testing and diagnostic equipment (multi-meter, oscilloscope, etc.)
- Knowledge in electrical safety and arc flash standards
- Able to work at heights, including climbing up and climbing down ladders.
- Able to work in an electrical environment. This may have been achieved through formal training, previous work experience, or the ability to demonstrate electrical skills.
- Able to operate company vehicles (field trucks), both onsite as well as on public roads and highways. Must have a current driver’s license.
- Demonstrate good work habits, including but not limited to attendance, and maintaining a neat and orderly work environment.
