- Leading and supporting the environment business development conducted in Canada and more broadly across the Americas
- Play a significant role in developing GHD's Canadian business, including across the three Regions of Eastern Canada, Ontario, and Western Canada, ensuring a focus on creating medium and long term opportunities to enable GHD's strong growth aspirations
- Assess market trends and strategize (greater than twelve months forward) towards future projects, programs, and differentiated solutions.
- Drive and coordinate business development/marketing across Canada in consultation with Regional Management leadership and the Environment Market Leader for the United States.
- Promote relationships with existing and potential clients. Increase business by improving client relationships and strengthening repeat business. Expand client base by promoting GHD's solutions proactively for the market in the Regions, Canada and across the Americas, consistent with GHD's strategy and business plans
- Support effective delivery, including serving as a Project Director on appropriate projects/programs
- Serve as an executive sponsor, where appropriate, for prioritized clients and strategic programs
- Identify areas of practice, based on client feedback or market trends (service lines) that require enhancement to meet present or future market opportunities
- Liaison and business development assistance where required outside of North America
- Collaborate with other Market Sector Leaders, including counterparts in Energy & Resources, Property & Buildings, Transportation, and Water, to position and win multidisciplinary projects within the Region
- Represents and promotes GHD at networking events, professional and industrial associations, society meetings, conferences, and tradeshows
- Identify areas of practice within Region, based on client feedback or market trends (service lines) that require enhancement to meet present or future opportunities
- Drive continued integration of Digital and Advisory into the Environment Market offerings, including new market development and in project delivery and execution.
- Attracts strategic hires for the Market to develop the business within the Region
- Sustainable and profitable growth of the Canadian Environment Market revenue and backlog
- Growth and diversification of environment market core business, integrated technical solutions, and emerging high value propositions
- Development of a strong pipeline, including leadership in the adoption and use of business tools such as Salesforce and Business Intelligence solutions
- Manage and mitigate risks within the Canadian Environment Market
- Assist and at times lead major projects to ensure delivery outcomes for the Canadian Environment Market, particularly focused on strategic pursuits and new market development
- Improve tender/proposal success rates
- Effective management of any designated budgets
- Actively participates in the integrated approach to market for all GHD services. Liaise with the respective Operational leaders and Technical Leaders.
- Professional Engineer, Professional Geoscientist, Professional Biologist, Environmental Planner or related disciplines
- Minimum of 15 years' experience leading an environmental business and demonstrated market growth
- Experience with corporate strategic planning initiatives and a demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful strategies
- Demonstrated considerable understanding of the overall Environmental Market in Canada and more broadly across the Americas, including future influences and trends.
- Outstanding interpersonal communication skills (both oral and written), with the ability to interact effectively within all levels of the organization in a collaborative fashion
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities in the areas of personnel management, decision making, change management, employee development, performance management, and team building skills
- Strong business acumen and commercial skills, including exceptional client experience skills
- Agile self-starter with a proactive, strategic, and creative approach
- Excellent writing and verbal communication
- Willingness and ability to travel
